Default Why Does Norgu NEVER Use Backfire?

Here is the build I currently have Norgu using & he NEVER seems to use Backfire. Even against elementalists he uses empathy instead:

[skill]Power Block[/skill][skill]cry of frustration[/skill][skill]power spike[/skill][skill]power drain[/skill][skill]backfire[/skill][skill]empathy[/skill][skill]leech signet[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]

Domination Magic - 16
Inspiration Magic - 12
Fast Casting - 3

Thanks.

Hexes are hexes to heroes. Same with interupts. They don't know what they do.

Because Norgu is a half decent Mesmer that knows Backfire is at it's core, lame. Funny how the games "Stupid" AI is often smarter than many players.

I've never given my Norgu Backfire, never saw a reason since bringing Backfire on a bar filled with interrupts is rather counterproductive.

I'd drop it and bring something else.

It's just INCASE a spell manages to get cast really. I'm thinking of changing to a ranger interrupter instead of a mesmer anyway.

Why is it lame? Just wondering. The times I've encountered it (being an ele myself) it's been pretty devastating.

Oh noez, I'm a noob and ur pr0. Grats.

As an ele at 60 AL & getting hit by a backfire from a level 28 enemy yes it's pretty damaging & by devastating I didn't just mean the damage, I meant it leaves you unable to cast for a while aswell.

And you still didn't explain why it's "lame".

Lol you mean you just don't stop casting? That would prevent the damage. Forcing your hero monk etc to remove the hex would be fairly easy. Back fire is lame!

But why? Nobody is explaining WHY it's lame. Fair enough, you're all probably right but a reason would be nice that's all. I'm not flaming anyone or disagreeing I'd just like to know

The hero AI doesn't think to cast Backfire straightaway. Heroes seem to be programmed to use Backfire as a shutdown measure - an AI enemy will never try to cast through Backfire if the hex damage would be fatal.

So Norgu would use Backfire - but only when the enemy target has less than 147 health (and by that time, it's basically dead anyway and would most likely be a corpse before the hex can be applied with only 3 ranks in fast casting). If you do wish to include Backfire in your party's build, only a human controlled Mesmer will know to cast it immediately and be able to use it to any degree of effectiveness.

It is a 3 second cast. That's crappy. 15 energy, that's crappy. It deals a lot of damage, but who would honestly cast a lot of spells when they're hexed with it? Just wait for the hex removal, which good monks deal with quickly. It's just hard to use and actually provide a lot of pressure. Plus in a build with interupts, it's counter-productive
